Arriving to Cologne
Your most likely points of arrival to Cologne are Cologne/Bonn Airport (CGN), Cologne Central Station (Köln Hauptbahnhof), and Cologne Messe/Deutz Station (Köln Messe-Deutz). All of them are well-connected with the rest of the city by public transport. Cab services, including taxi, Uber, and Bolt are also widely available in the city.

From the Airport to the City
From the airport, you can easily reach Cologne central areas using local trains. Trains S19 and RB27 will take you to either Cologne Central Station (approx. 20-min ride in 30-min intervals) or Cologne Messe/Deutz Station. To reach the Universtiy from Cologne Central Station, take tram line 16 or 18 to "Neumarkt," then transfer to line 9 towards "Sülz" and get off at "Universität". Reaching the University from Cologne Messe/Deutz Station is more straightforward – just take line 9 towards “Sülz” and get off at “Universität”. A single-ride ticket will cost €3.39 (a taxi/Uber/Bolt ride: approx. €40/€30/€30).

Public transport
KVB is the local company which offers all public transportation services. Ticket prices range from around €3,40 (Single ride) to €8,30 (24h Pass) for the rides within Cologne area (so-called 1b tickets). Cab services
Taxi, Uber, and Bolt are available in Cologne. Uber's and Bolt's fares are approximately 20% lower than taxi's.
